Purpose of Data Collection

The collection of personal data, such as name and email at thekeymachine.xyz, is essential for registration and access to TheKeyMachine, a Python script for Autodesk Maya. This process ensures the issuance of a unique license key. Additionally, this information is utilized for license recovery and to analyze software usage, aiding in continual improvements. The data is used strictly for these stated purposes, enhancing user experience with the software.

Legitimization

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

Explicit Consent: Users agree to data collection by accepting the Privacy Policy during registration. Software Usage: Data collection is necessary for accessing and operating TheKeyMachine. Legitimate Interest: Data is utilized to improve the software and user experience.

The type of personal information that is collected

By using TheKeyMachine, some data are collected and stored. The following outlines the instances and circumstances under which data is collected or transferred:

When registering on TheKeyMachine's website to obtain a license: Both your name and email are stored. These details are used to generate a license and for future license recovery in case of loss or forgetfulness. No other data is stored. Emails will not be used at any time except to inform about the end of the beta phase or in the event of a cancellation or revocation of the license.

When activating TheKeyMachine and on each start-up of Maya: Licenses are activated and verified online. When the tool is activated, the date and time of activation are recorded. With each new start-up of Maya, the license is verified and, if valid, the date of usage is sent. What the server receives is only a number, which is used for statistical purposes to understand the number of active licenses and their usage. No other data is stored.

When using the bug report feature: In addition to the data provided in the various form fields, the installed version of TheKeyMachine, the version of Maya being used, and the operating system are sent. This data is sent in a simple format; an example of the information sent could be: TKM beta 0.1.14, Maya 2023.2, Windows. No other data is stored or sent.

How We Store Your Personal Information

We take the privacy and security of your personal information seriously. When you use TheKeyMachine's services, we collect and store certain data to ensure the functionality of our software. We will not use your email for any other purpose except to inform you about important updates or events related to TheKeyMachine, such as the end of the beta phase or license cancellations or revocations.

  3. License Number: To provide you with access to our software, we generate a unique license number associated with your registration.

  4. Activation Date: When you activate TheKeyMachine, we record the date and time of activation. This information helps us ensure the proper functioning of your license.

  5. Last Usage Date: For statistical purposes, we track the date of your last use of TheKeymachine.

  6. Installed Version: We record the version of TheKeyMachine that you have installed. This helps us provide better support and improve our software over time.

Additionally, if a user explicitly requests the deletion of their data, it will be promptly and securely removed from our systems prior to the end of the beta phase.
