# What's the beta phase?

The beta phase means that the software does not yet have all the capabilities and tools, and that there are bugs and issues that need to be resolved. This is a long phase where faults, bugs, and errors are identified and corrected. New tools are also implemented, or those that are half-developed are finished.

While you can use TheKeyMachine in production, it is highly recommended to take the necessary steps to secure your work (save your scene frequently, make backups, etc). You will certainly encounter problems, tools that do not work as expected, or that simply do not work. Some can produce errors and even in the worst case, cause Maya to crash (I hope you don't experience any of these).

In most cases, you will notice minor faults and that things are not going exactly as expected. You might also see errors in TheKeyMachine interface, problems with the toolbar, and to a lesser extent with customGraph.

If you detect any faults and want to report them, please use the option "*Report a bug*" in TheKeyMachine config menu.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://thekeymachine.gitbook.io/base/getting-started/whats-the-beta-phase.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
