# Tracer

Tracer creates a Maya motion trail with the unique feature that it can be activated or deactivated. When the motion trail is deactivated, there are no calculations, so the weight in the scene is practically nil.

Use the 'refresh' option to update the position of the motion trail without activating it.

One of the interesting things about Tracer is that you can continue using all the options that Maya's motion trails have.

{% hint style="info" %}
Tip: Press Shift + Click on the Tracer icon to refresh the position without having to activate it.
{% endhint %}

Right-click on the tool icon to see more options.

{% hint style="warning" %}
By default, Tracer is created disconnected
{% endhint %}
